Solar Basics

When a Sand Creek Solar professional visits your existing property for a site assessment,  the process is three-step:

1) Identifying efficiency upgrade opportunities. Many electrical components in common use today have suitable low-energy demand replacements available. We’ve assessed properties where nearly half the total facility electrical load is reduced through efficiency upgrades alone.

2) Identifying alternative energy options. These will include some or all of these:

  • Solar-generated electricity using a site-specific photovoltaic array and controls.
  • Solar thermal hot water heating or pre-heating. Many are unaware that properly designed solar hot water systems perform year-round even in the coldest climates.
  • Daylighting systems. If appropriate for the site, daylighting can reduce electrical loads from the reduced use of electrical lights.

3) Seeing the project through to successful construction and operation, which includes:

  • Identifying the appropriate components and equipment;
  • Soliciting bids from well-qualified installation contractors and suppliers; and
  • Overseeing construction up to and including the successful start-up and system operation
